Mocha-Misu

Wow, it's been super long since I've blogged any recipes... guess that just goes to show how busy the holidays were for me. For Christmas at my in-laws I made this fantastic tiramisu knock-off that was so easy! (In my pre-kid days I would have spent the entire day making the real thing, but this one literally takes about 30 minutes of prep time.)

Mocha-Misu

1 frozen pound cake, thawed and cut into 9 slices
3/4 cup strong coffee
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 Heath bars, chopped (or now they have the Heath chips in the baking aisle!)

Arrange cake slices on bottom of 11x7" pan, cutting slices if necessary to cover bottom of pan. Drizzle coffee over slices.

Beat sugar, chocolate syrup and cream chees in a large bowl. Pour in whipping cream and beat until light and fluffy. Spread over cake and sprinkle with chopped candy pieces.

Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour, but no longer than 24 hours to set and blend flavors.

I actually let it set for longer than 24 hours and it wasn't soggy at all. I also always have extra mousse when I make this recipe - maybe my pan isn't tall enough. But I just put the extra in a bowl and enjoy it later. :-)
